The Re-Place Project at the 82nd International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia

The 82nd International Scientific Conference of the University of Latvia, held on February 22nd, 2024, included a Human Geography section featuring a diverse range of thematic presentations. Notably, the Re-Place project received significant attention within this section.

Professors Zaiga Krisjane with colleagues Elina Apsite-Berina, and Mr. Maris Berzins, all representing the Re-Place Latvia team, were given the opportunity to present the project and its core concept, “Reframing Non-Metropolitan Left Behind Places Through Mobility and Alternative Development,” during the thematic section’s plenary session.

The presentation focused on several key aspects of the Re-Place project. The consortium, workplan and project objectives were all outlined, along with anticipated outcomes and the participatory research methods utilized to achieve them. Ultimately, the presentation aimed to showcase how the Re-Place project strives to enhance the quality of life in non -metropolitan communities across Europe and Latvia.
