International seminar: Talking about marginality, its consequences and ways out
On the 10th of July, Alexandra Deliu and Mădălina Manoilă, members of the Romanian team, delivered a presentation of the Re-Place project as part of the international seminar Talking about marginality, its consequences and ways out, organized at ICCV (Bucharest, Romania) with the participation of students from Georgia Institute of Technology, accompanied by dr. Eliza Markley, Professor in the International Politics department and by dr. Katja Weber, Professor at the School of International Affairs.
The presentation, (Re)Constructing narratives in a participatory framework – Reframing Non-Metropolitan Left-Behind Places through Mobility and Alternative Development, was focused on LHDI and on the selection of case studies for the qualitative research, emphasizing the instrumental role of the index for uncovering potential communities to be further studied through fieldwork. Another important aspect was the way the project relates with the broad concept of marginality, discourses on this topic and potential ways to alleviate/overcome it, especially through the co-participation of researchers and local community members.
