Re-Place partner took part in the third edition of “Scuola di Montagna” in Northern Italy
Researcher Astrid Safina, from the Italian Re-Place partner, Sapienza University of Rome, was present as a participatory observant in the third edition of the “Scuola di Montagna” held in the inner mountain area of Val Pellice, Piedmont. The Mountain School consisted of a 3-day (June 28th – June 30th) training and orientation residency for twenty future mountain dwellers.
The event is an initiative promoted by the Metropolitan City of Turin in collaboration with the Department of Cultures, Politics, and Society of the University of Turin and SocialFare | Center for Social Innovation. The goal is to support individuals, groups, and families who are planning to live and/or work in the highlands, through training, information, and discussion activities on the opportunities, services, and good practices present in the Turin valleys, and moments of exploration and meeting with the productive activities of the territory. During the three days, Re-Place researcher engaged in discussions with local stakeholders, administrative representatives, and potential new residents of this Italian left-behind area, while building important networks for future steps of the empirical research.
