RePlace Team from Latvia Successfully Participate in Prestigious International Geographical Congress in Dublin
The 35th International Geographical Congress, titled “Celebrating a world of difference,” took place in Dublin from August 24th to 29th. This significant event featured extensive representation of research conducted by Latvian geographers, including presentations of the RePlace project’s results.
Researchers from the University of Latvia, Zaiga Krisjane, Maris Berzins, Elina Apsite-Berina, and Maris Fogelis, presented a study on “left-behind places” and urban decline in Latvia titled “The geography of ‘left-behind places’ and urban shrinkage in Latvia: exploring the complex interplay of demographic and socio-economic dynamics”. The study highlights the complex interplay of demographic and socio-economic factors in these processes.
The 35th International Geographical Congress was a testament to global collaboration, bringing together thousands of geographers from around the world to exchange the latest findings and discuss current geographical challenges.
